Arrangements

The volunteers gather at a designated location. The place needs to be somewhere that flower and supply deliveries can be made. It will need water and plenty of room to make the arrangements.

Flowers, supplies and the amount of arrangements needed must be lined up before your volunteers come to work.

In Randy's case, it works well because he gives the volunteers space in his workroom. If you don't have access to a floral shop, a garage with a worktable and water supply could be used. Don't forget to make sure the temperature is cool enough to protect the flowers from the heat.

We found that simple rose arrangements work the best. Roses have worked the best because they withstand the heat of the Hospice patient's room. Don't go too big and elaborate. We are not striving to do a bud vase, but on the other hand we are not striving to do large elaborate arrangements. Keep in mind they are going on bedside tables. We use 4.5" rose-bowl vases with roughly ten roses per arrangement.
