It's important to keep in contact with your board. We found that quarterly brainstorming meetings are enough. It's helpful to get their ideas for efficient growth that keeps us on mission. You also have to keep track of all expenses so that your treasury (hopefully a volunteer accountant) can report to both the board and the IRS. It's necessary to make sure your non-profit status is protected and that your board is informed. The President and/or founder will most likely find that they will have daily responsibilities. These can include ordering supplies, paying bills, making sure volunteers are never without flowers and writing thank you notes for donations. |
